Uganda Freight Services
With estimated population growth in 2009 of 3.3% Uganda is a fast growing nation. The capital Kampala provides residence to 1.5 million individuals. Total population of Uganda in 2009 was 32.7 million.
GDP at this time was estimated at $15.7 billion (US dollars) made up largely from mining and agricultural activities. Natural resources include phosphate, salt, oil, cobalt and copper.
Much of the $2.25 billion worth of exports were agricultural products such as tea, coffee, tabacco and maize. Major markets for these exports include other African nations and the EU.
With imports into Uganda estimated at $5.24 billion in 2009, these more than double the exports. These imports were largley made up of vehicles, industrial machinery, petroleum products, iron and steel. Major suppliers of imports include the EU, China, India, Kenya and the United Arab Emirates.
