Freight Forwarding Case Study 1
The show must go on!
When a youth orchestra of more than 100 children was about to embark on a heavy concert tour of Jamaica, it discovered at the last minute that it couldn't take its musical instruments onboard the aeroplane as originally planned. Thankfully Transvalair came to the rescue and ensured the instruments arrived at their destination in good time for the first performance.
Client: Haringey Music and Performing Arts, Haringey Council
Problem:
The Haringey Young Musicians were due to fly on Saturday for an orchestral tour of Montego Bay in Jamaica to play a range of concerts and were looking forward to it with eager anticipation. On Friday morning however their plans were thrown up in the air when the airline called to say they could no longer take their musical instruments (more than 3½ tonnes worth) onboard as personal luggage and would have to find alternative transport for them.
Peter Desmond, Head of Music and Performing Arts at Haringey Council heard that Transvalair might be able to help and contacted the team straight away. They weren't going to miss their first performance!
Transvalair solution:
Transvalair jumped into gear and arranged for the instruments to be transported as cargo on the next possible flight out of the UK. The Council had already loaded the instruments into a suitable van and this was promptly dispatched to Gatwick Airport. In the end, Transvalair secured cargo space for the instruments onboard the same flight as the orchestra was travelling on, meaning the musicians and their instruments arrived in Jamaica at the same time.
"Transvalair was extremely helpful in what was truly a difficult and unexpected situation." said Peter. "Their immediate response ensured everything was resolved smoothly - they were an answer to our prayers and we are indebted to them for their willingness to work late into the night on our behalf. I'm also pleased to say the tour was a great success!"
