Our history
Formally a Swiss cargo airline, Transvalair has operated as a major freight forwarder since 1977. Despite rigorous growth, we have maintained a reputation for customer focus and personally tailored services. Unlike some of our high volume competitors, we treat every job individually and every customer personally. For this reason, Transvalair is often the logistics company of choice when it comes to unusual products or far flung locations.
Founded in Switzerland in 1973 as an airline, Transvalair made its first dedicated cargo flight from Sion to Khartoum in December 1973. In the early days the company’s head office was in Sion, Switzerland, but, now operating purely as a freight forwarding agent, this has since been transferred to the UK. We have since developed a global network and operate worldwide.
Completely independent, Transvalair is now recognised as one of the leading freight forwarding and cargo handling companies in the world.
Interesting fact: during our history as a Swiss Cargo Airline our aircraft transported over 95,000 tons of cargo, and flew more than 11,000,000 kilometres, operating with three CL44 cargo aircraft.
